Tips For Finding An Affordable Health Insurance Plan

Are you currently looking for an affordable individual health insurance plan? Well, good luck. I don’t mean to be a pessimist but the cost of health insurance, even for an individual, has gone out of sight over the past few years. I was speaking to a family member recently and they told me that they were paying over $300.00 per month just for an individual health plan.
There are some things that you may be able to do in order to bring those premium payments down, however, you’ll need to decide in the end if these would be in your best interest or not.
The first thing that you could do is to cut down on your coverage. This means getting the least expensive policy available and raising your deductible higher. This will mean that you’ll likely be paying for all of your doctor visits out of your own pocket, but you should be covered for any unexpected accidents or any long term hospitalization costs, minus your deductible. This might be a feasible option if you think about it.
Example, if your current deductible is $250.00 and your premium payments are costing you $300.00 per month then you can probably reduce your monthly costs by half or more by raising your deductible up to $2,500 or even $5,000. I know, I know. Nobody wants to pay that much out of pocket, however, let’s look at another example.
The average person only visits the doctor twice a year, once for a check-up and once for illness. If you figure the cost of those two visits combined to be in the range of $3-400.00, depending on what has to be taken care of, then you could potentially save a lot by raising your deductible. Look at the numbers. If you were able to cut your premium in half by raising your deductible then you’re saving $150.00 per month or $1,800 per year. If you only payed $400.00 out of pocket then you’ve saved yourself $1,400 over the course of twelve months and you’ll still be covered for emergency care.
The key to making this work is to put money in savings until you’ve saved a few hundred dollars and then leave it there specifically for doctor visits alone. This is only one option for you to consider when you get ready to purchase an individual health insurance plan.

How to Root Out Affordable Health Insurance

Do these words really fit together: affordable health insurance? Most people don’t think so anymore. Not so long ago, monthly mortgage payments used to exceed health insurance premium payments. No longer. Some people who have conditions such as asthma or diabetes (or even a family history of a particular disease) have to pay more each month for their health insurance than their car and house payments combined.
When you are looking for affordable health insurance, it can be an extremely exasperating eye-opener. You might be thinking that you can’t afford the same full coverage that you once received from your employer (past or present.)
Affordable health insurance (not “cheap”), however, is definitely available… if you know how and where to look.
When you are looking for affordable health insurance, you want the lowest cost per year that will fit your budget, of course. Although, what is even more important than price is the company’s record for paying. Do they make it easy or hard to get your money. After all what good is insurance if they won’t pay you when you need it. Take any budget and you can find a great car. Take any budget and you can find a great affordable health insurance. Of course, you probably won’t be able to afford the BMW policy (otherwise you would never have searched for “affordable” in the first place, right?) but you can find a “no frills” policy.
Ten years ago, shopping for affordable health insurance was aggravating and time consuming. No more when you use the internet!
1. To submit claims to your insurance company, you no longer need a local agent. In this day and age, you save money because the health insurance company doesn’t have to pay an agent a commission. That means you can save up to 12%. Why? Because your medical provider submits your claims for you… no middle man!
2. Want thorough information about all of the insurance companies that you are considering? Just jump on Google or Yahoo and within seconds you’ll have it. Since local agents can only represent a few insurance companies, generally they point you to the best health insurance product for your health and financial needs (unless their product is actually the best.)
3. Because it’s really easy now for potential customers to discover what all companies are charging for their policies, health insurance companies try much harder to remain competitive. In the past you would have had to physically visit eight to ten agents to do a similar comparison. Most folks just didn’t have the time or desire for that.
4. You can save hours upon hours whenever you need to change your payment options, deductibles and coverage. Just hop online and fill out some forms rather than mailing it all to your local agent who often made mistakes since it wasn’t as importat to them as it is to you. Whew! What timesaver.
5. Got a credit card? Now you don’t have to mail a check every single month. All you have to do is set up the “auto-pay” feature with your insurance company. No more forgetting to mail a payment on time. Want a discount? Need more time to pay? Well, most insurance companies will give you a discount when you set up the “auto-pay” and your credit card company won’t require you to pay for it for at least 30 days.
If you could uncover only one secret to finding affordable health insurance, make it this: the purpose of health insurance is to protect you and your family from a major financial loss. It’s purpose is not to save you money on a monthly basis for doctor’s visits to have a cut bandaged or for sore throat lozenges. Of course, these small expenses might be annoying but, for the most part, they will not significantly hurt you financially. It’s the $200,000 kidney transplant that will ruin you and send you into bankruptcy or much worse. These are the financially disasterous situations that health insurance prevents.
Keep in mind that for you, as in gambling, insurance is a hedge bet. You are gambling that you will draw out more than you pay in. It’s not a bad way to look at it. This may seem to be how things work but it’s not entirely correct.
I always hear people compare casinos and insurance companies so let’s use that as an example. As many people believe, they believe that when they place a bet, they are betting on one team and the casino is betting on the other. This is not true. But what actually happens is this: they are betting against people that placed bets for the other team. The casino simply sets the lines to balance the action on both sides and collect a small fee called “the vig”.
Much the same, the insurance company is not betting against you when you purchase insurance. Here’s what really happens: using actuality tables, the insurance company determines the average cost per person by taking the average cost of a large group of similar people. Next, they charge everyone in the group the same price with the knowledge that they will pay less money to some in the group and more money to others but averaging the same amount of money to each person over time. Then they simply tack on their fee (like the casino’s vig) for paying everyone when the money is needed for health situations. For the most part, you are betting that you are going to need more money for your health care than the average person in the group will need. This is what the insurance industry calls the “law of large numbers” and is what really makes affordable health insurance possible.
Most importantly, “affordable” and “cheap” are not synonyms. They do not mean the same thing. A Toyota Camry is “affordable”. A Yugo is “cheap”. There is some truth to the old saying that “You get what you pay for” but it is also important to understand that just because your friend spent $30,000 more for his Lexus than you did for your Toyota that he got $30,000 more car. Actually, the more and more you spend, the less and less you get for your money. Health insurance is very similar.
The opposite is also true though. One can get from point A to point B by driving a Yugo but not reliably. If your car breaks down a lot, should you rely on it to get you to work? You could get fired for being late or not showing up, right? If you need to get to a really important sales meeting… would you show up in a Yugo? What about this… would you buy something from someone driving a beat up Yugo? I know I wouldn’t! I’m not a snob but I don’t want to lose money by being cheap!
With that in mind, you should check the ratings companies such as AM Best (ambest.com) and Standard & Poors (standardandpoors.com) and, in my opinion, select a company with a rating of A or higher. More often that not, the least expensive policy from a highly rated company is much better than the most expensive policy from a lower rated company. In almost every case, the better company is the better way to go even if it costs a little more. It would suck to need the money and have nothing but trouble trying to get it from your insurance company let alone getting it quick, wouldn’t it?
To wrap up, finding affordable health insurance is not nearly as difficult as most people think it is… not nearly that difficult.
If you need affordable health insurance, understand that by simply agreeing to higher deductibles, spending time researching online and comparing 8-10 differnet plans is the simplest method.

How to Choose the Perfect Health Insurance Plan

If your place of work does not offer health insurance then you must forge into the massive world of available coverage. With so many choices how is one to know which plan is the fit best? A little research and knowledge will help you decide on the perfect health insurance plan.
Available Health Insurance Plan Options
Looking for a health insurance coverage is not as intimidating as it sounds if you keep a few factors in mind. For starters, what type of plan are you looking for? Do you want an individual, family or business plan? Once the type of health insurance plan is decided upon you will need to examine what you want in a plan.
When finding the perfect health insurance plan there are many options available. Something to keep in mind though is that almost all insurance plans are not going to cover everything. With an individual plan some specialty doctors are not covered as are not all doctor visits. Limits are enforced for hospital stays and certain procedures. There is almost always some sort of co-pay involved in health insurance plans and some events that cause injury are not even covered at all. This may not seem right, but all insurance providers operate in this manner. After all, they are a business. Remember to read the fine print before signing on for a health insurance plan and you will circumvent any potential misunderstandings.
Are you looking for care regulated strictly to physicians or are you going to need dental or eye insurance? Most insurance plans do not include eye or dental coverage and a few visits to the dentist can add up quickly! If you do need wither eye or dental insurance and your health insurance plan doesn’t cover it, purchasing these other overages separately is always an option.
Another huge factor when choosing a health insurance plan is the amount of premium required. Premiums vary from one provider to another and are generally paid on a monthly basis. Depending on the plan you choose a monthly premium can vary from $7 to $23. Shopping around will inform you as to which plans require what premiums.
When Temporary Coverage Is A Good Idea
Applying for a health insurance plan can be exasperating when a problem occurs that keeps you from readily receiving coverage. A few reasons that finding coverage difficult are:
* Past medical problems
* Chronic or pre-existing health problems
* Diagnosed as clinically obese
It’s more profitable for an insurance company to accept relatively healthy people. Less risk means less money paid out. It’s just a fact that if you have medical problems an insurance company will drag their feet accepting you into one of their health insurance plans. Even if you are accepted be prepared to pay a higher premium. Your search for a health insurance plan will be more arduous if you have health problems, but there are companies that will accept you.
If you are planning on needing health insurance for a short time or if you’re taking a trip you may want to consider temporary insurance. Actually, temporary insurance can be for up to one year. If visiting a foreign country, a temporary health insurance plan could save you thousands if you are involved in an accident. No one wants to be stuck far away from home because they are refused to leave until all their bills are paid.
When it comes down to it, a health insurance plan is a must. Whether you sign up for a family, business, individual or temporary insurance you will find a plan that will fit your needs. Even if you run into difficulties finding a company that will accept you, keep at it, it’s worth it!
Summary:
A proper heath insurance plan will give you peace of mind knowing that you and your family are protected. There are many plans to choose from, but by keeping your needs in mind you will find the perfect plan that covers all that you want and within the price range that you can afford.

Affordable Health Insurance Quote For Individual And Family – Can I Find One?

If you are employed full-time outside the home or self-employed, finding a health insurance plan that meets the needs of your family can be daunting. The majority of employers have subscribed to an insurance package that they offer their employees and within this package they normally offer several choices. If you are self-employed, it may take a bit more work to find a family health insurance
provider that will offer you the coverage you need at an affordable cost.
Gathering family health insurance information
For the individual who is working full-time, talk with your company’s benefits health specialist and request information on the family health insurance package offered. Before you look over the information consider listing what is important for you and your family such as,
* Deductible
* Prescription coverage
* Dental Exams
* Eye Exams
* Extra costs for spouse or children
* Any other items that are pertinent to your family
Once you have your list, review the information you received. Write down any questions and present them to the benefits specialist at your place of employment.
A bit more work is required for the individual who is self-employed. You will have to make a few calls or use the convenience of the Internet and then compare your needs with the offers you have received. In addition, talk to other individuals who are self-employed as well as contacting Chamber of Commerce in your local area.
Family health insurance premiums are based on several variables
Premiums are based on several factors such as,
* Single or married
* With children or without children
* Pre-existing conditions
* Prior hospitalizations
* What options you choose
* Amount of deductible
What are some of the benefits of securing family health insurance?
The benefit of procuring family health insurance is the peace of mind that comes if you or a family member where to need medical care. In the unfortunate event that a family member needs hospitalization you can relax knowing that a major part of the financial expense is covered by the insurance plan you have chosen. In the event that you or a family member require prescriptions on a daily basis it is comforting to know that most, if not all, of the expense will be covered by your insurance.
The importance of looking at your medical history when applying for health insurance coverage
Insurance companies look at family history when making the final approval of an application for family health insurance. Some of the factors that are considered include:
* Prior hospitalizations
* Chronic illnesses
* Family history (your mother and father)
This information is important in assessing the appropriate health insurance coverage that will meet the needs of your family. By taking the time to review the information, looking closely at the needs of your family, and asking questions of the provider, you can be confident in your choice of a family health insurance plan.

Essential Guide On Health Insurance

Finding health coverage may appear cumbersome especially with different marketers sweet talking you about their policies. Listen to them but review whatever you hear from them before making a pick. It’s true , with health insurance
, like everything else in life, not everything that glitters is gold.
Health insurance is a form of cover that guards against health hazards. The insurer pays for some or all of the cost of receiving treatment for the policy holder. Health insurance is of various types; the group health insurance, individual, fee for service, etc. You can receive any health cover service for as long as you meet with the requirements of the insurer.
While searching for insurance quotes, you have to take note of this tip– Make sure that the quotes you receive about your health insurance cover are not from different agents giving you the same quotes. Receive quotes from different insurance companies and compare and contrast the information you get with your written down requirement and budgets.
If you have a child linked to your health cover and the child is in the custody of your divorced partner, you will want to know how your cover can protect her. First you should know that the policy of the parent that the child is in custody of will be the primary policy. If such parent that has custody is married to someone else, that spouse will provide the secondary policy. After these will your policy be considered.
The most dependable weapon you can count upon while seeking cheap health cover is your knowledge. What you know about these policies will determine how you will be able to effectively choose a policy and set your total out-of-pocket payment. Seeking advice and counsel from professionals and trusted acquaintance can provide the required knowledge you need.
Activities that we involve ourselves in and the kind or work we do also determines the health cost of the health package that we will receive from insurance companies. If you work in an environment that exposes you to health hazards you will pay more in premium compared to people that work in secured environments and cooperate offices.
An insurance plan that may sound good to you initially but in the long run is not beneficial is the limited benefit policy. This policy attracts low monthly premium and it may just appear as what you have been looking for, initially. The truth about this benefit is that the insurance company only pays a portion of the bill so you still have to pick up the remainder of the bills. You really have to go through the pages of these policies before signing up for them; as usually they contain things you won’t like.
Insurance premiums are sometimes set depending on the condition of the policy holder’s health. If an insurance company feels you are in a bad shape health wise, they will set out premiums that are relatively higher than others. That’s why it’s very important to take very good care of your health, every time- whether you are ill or not.

The Facts About Health Insurance (USA Only)

With the rising cost of health insurance
, it’s difficult to pinpoint the coverage that you need and the best place to obtain that coverage. How do you know you are getting the most for your money, and how do you know that the health insurance policy you’ve chosen is going to cover every incident that arises for you?
In order to best serve yourself, you should first know what a typical health insurance policy covers, what questions you should ask your provider in terms of the policy, how to get the lowest possible premiums, clauses and small print to watch out for before signing any papers, and what additional coverage you may need to consider aside from the standards.
What is Covered By a Typical Policy?
When it comes to health insurance, there are a number of variations in coverage. However, a very basic health care plan covers one well care visit per year per covered individual as a check up procedure, as well as visits to your primary care physician as needed for illness and injury.
These all incur a co pay that is determined by the plan for which you sign up, and your deductible may come into play with certain types of policies, having to be met each year. Some procedures are covered, such as pap smears (twice a year) and prostate exams (annually, based on age) or mammograms (annually, also based on age).
Different types of plans will cover health care
differently. For example, an HMO plan, one of 3 different managed care type plans, consists of a network of doctors. You will pick a primary care physician within your network, and any specialists will have to be based on this doctor’s referral.
A POS, or Point of Service, plan will allow your doctor to refer you out of network for the same coverage as if you were to choose a specialist within the network for yourself.
With a PPO, you can see whoever you want, in or out of network, without a referral and just a small financial penalty for going out of network.
Medicare, Medicaid, and State Children’s Health Care provisions are highly regulated by the government and will cover the cost of medications, surgeries, hospitalization, and some skilled nursing care.
What Should I Ask My Provider?
Before you determine which health insurance plan is best for you, consider some questions that you should ask your provider:
* What is the yearly out-of-pocket limit? You don’t want to end up spending a fortune if you frequently go to the doctor.
* What is my co pay? You want to know what you will pay for medications, doctor visits, and emergency room care.
* What is my premium? How much is your monthly cost for this insurance?
* What sort of child immunization/pregnancy/birth coverage is offered? Prior to choosing a policy, understand your family statistics.
* What clauses are there regarding pre-existing conditions? Make sure you know what will and won’t be covered based on your former coverage.
How Can I Save Money and Reduce My Premium?
Various options can assist you with minimizing the premium on your health cover; however, you have to weigh the value of doing so because most decisions are a trade off. Initially, take your time to find the best price and quality. Don’t choose the first policy you research because it may be overpriced. From there, it all depends on what you are willing to give up.
* Raise your co pay. When you pay more up front for the prescription or the doctor’s visit, your policy doles out less money, which means that your premium will be lower. Remember, though, that you’ll be paying more every time you go to the doctor or fill a prescription.
* Opt for higher deductibles. Are you relatively certain you won’t run into a situation where your deductible will need to be met prior to coverage being enacted (such as hospital stays and emergency care)? If so, you may be willing to risk a much higher deductible so that your premium is greatly reduced.
* Don’t opt for extras. If there are options for additional services, opt out of them to save a little cash.
Read Between the Lines:
Pay attention to the fine print of any health insurance policy in which you intend to enter. There may be clauses regarding pre-existing conditions that are not conducive to your life, and you may find that the provider reserves the right to raise your premium without notice or reason (such as rising industry costs). Be sure you know what your contract says, and you’ll be able to save yourself a lot of hassle and pain in the future.
Other Coverage You May Consider:
In terms of health insurance, there are different options you may consider, such as a flex spending plan, health savings account, or other indemnity plan. You might also want to consider purchasing a package that includes dental and vision insurance or perhaps even life insurance, since you will find that purchasing multiple policies from the same provider often results in discounts in premiums.

Online Auto Insurance Quotes for Full Coverage

When comparing online auto insurance quotes, it’s wise to compare policies to see what each company’s “full coverage” offer includes. When auto insurance agencies mention “full coverage” this means you’ll receive full coverage within that particular company’s guidelines and policies.
If you obtain a car insurance quote online and only look at the premium rate and the statements made by the company, you might be in for a big surprise when you need to make a claim. Never blindly enter into a policy agreement merely because it is called “full coverage.” A full coverage policy does not mean the company will cover any and every thing that could possibly happen to you or your vehicle.
Every auto insurance policy has limitations and exclusions. Limitations are often based on your car maintenance habits. If you neglect your automobile or fail to meet certain requirements for mechanical maintenance (such as oil changes or brake maintenance), then the company will not cover certain types of damage. When reading a full coverage policy and when comparing car insurance quotes online, don’t only read what’s covered but also read over the company’s limitations and exclusions carefully.
Full Coverage Policies Explained
A full coverage policy will usually include the following: liability (coverage amount is dependent upon the legal requirements in your state), collision, comprehensive coverage, towing, rental reimbursement, roadside assistance, coverage for uninsured and underinsured motorist, and coverage for medical payments. The policy may also include property damage and bodily injury coverage. Though all these may be covered by two different insurance agencies, this doesn’t mean the policies are identical. Each auto insurance company is different, and these types of coverage are offered within a company’s own policy limitations and requirements.
When obtaining auto insurance quotes online for full coverage, you must factor in your driving record, the age and value of your car, your age and gender, discounts, where you live, and possibly even your credit rating. Look for quotes on policies that offer all the coverage you need within your budget. When comparing liability, buy more coverage than you feel you’ll need if possible.
Examine Policies
Before signing on the dotted line, examine the full coverage policy carefully and be sure you understand all the coverage provided as well as the agency’s limitations. Ask for an exact quote based on your personal and vehicle information, and also determine a payment plan that will work for you. There should be no unpleasant surprises!
Some online companies might provide a downloadable list of coverage types you’ll receive and a policy outline. Print these and keep them for your records in case there are discrepancies in your actual policy. You’ll find that online auto insurance quotes for full coverage are the most expensive, but full coverage also gives you the most protection for your money. Compare quotes and policies online today to save hundreds per year for this thorough coverage!

Life and AD&D Insurance Long and Short Term

There are Short Term Disability Insurance and Long Term Disability Insurance coverage. The Short Term Disability Insurance, as the name indicates, provides substitute income for short durations. When you undergo a major surgery or prolonged medical treatment for any ailment, you suffer loss of earnings as you are unfit to work. By opting for this insurance, you can supplement the income gap for that period. Till you become alright and return to work, you can stop worrying for money needed for every day expenses.
The Long Term Disability Insurance similarly offers substitute income for long period maybe even up to a person’s retirement age. This insurance is understandably meant for more prolonged periods of incapacity to work. Critical injuries as a result of road accident could mean several months of inability to resume work. The long term insurance is more focused in eliminating your concerns about how to pay your bills over many months or even years. This insurance can also help fill the void before a person can qualify for social security disability.
Yet another type of insurance is Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (AD&D) which additional benefits if death has occurred due to an accident or if the insured has suffered accidental loss of a limb or eye. Accidental death and dismemberment insurance pays you or your beneficiary when you are injured or die in an accident. The plan pays varying amounts depending on the extent of injury. For example, the full benefit is paid if you die in an accident. If you lose a hand or a foot, 50% of the full benefit is paid. AD&D insurance also provides a lump sum payment if death or permanent disability is the direct result of an accident.
Life Insurance, as widely known, helps the survivors of a family with the financial means to cope with the death of one of its members. The beneficiaries nominated for this purpose receive the insurance amount upon the death of the insured person. Life insurance provides a fixed sum of money to the beneficiaries upon death of the insured. It is intended to replace the deceased’s loss of current and some future income, and may also be useful in estate planning.
Beneficiaries will receive payments whether the insured dies of natural or accidental causes. AD&D insurance provides a lump sum payment if death or dismemberment is the direct result of an accident If the insured has both life and AD&D insurance and dies as the result of an accident, both covers are paid to designated beneficiaries. Life insurance may also play a role in estate planning, or in choosing retirement income options, depending on the health of the employee and his dependents. Life insurance should be viewed in the overall context of the individual’s total financial plans.
As regards beneficiaries, you can name more than one person as your beneficiary. However, you must designate the same beneficiaries for Basic Life, Optional Life and AD&D. The Life Insurance premium is determined by your age, whether you are a smoker, your gender, the amount of cover you require and the number of years it is required. There is a guarantee that the amount you pay will not increase throughout the tenure for which you are covered unless you choose the Inflation Option.
